I have had this idea for quite sometime, except I've been trying to find a way to hook up the LCDs from mini camcorders and have them work like this along with two wireless mini cameras aligned just right mounted on an rc sumthing-or-other, but congrats on ur success mang! How much do those 'Clix' usually run ($)??
Looks like they go for $134 on Amazon (search for iriver clix. Kind of pricey.
I've never found a good way to hook up LCDs from miscellaneous electronics because they're always very difficult to drive. They all have different signal schemes, voltage levels, and timing that makes it difficult to put together.
For the realtime wireless 3d viewing, I would suggest looking at handheld color TVs with composite video inputs, along with 2.4ghz wireless color cameras with a selectable channel.
I got these CLixes for $100 each because I have a contact, but they were originally $200. As they become les and less new they ill get cheaper though. Im thinking of doing a 3D stopmotion.
I've been doing the same thing for a while now using a Sony PSP and a vintage stereoscope. The cool thing about the PSP is that the video pairs will always be in sync, as they are side-by-side in a single mpeg4 file. Also, the psp will play back auto-slideshows of jpeg stereo pairs and stereocards. I love the juxtaposition of new tech with antique. Check out my setup (view with red/cyan glasses for 3D):

Dude thats beautiful! And the in sync aspect is something thats nice too althought its not hard to get the clixes in sync. Would you be interested in me posting the two halves of any future 3D videos I make in here for you to consume? Oh and I also love the combination of old and new tech! ...How do you hold your PSP on the rack? This comment was edited at 2006-12-27 16:54:57

Oh I made some Red/Cyan specs just to look at your picture (prefer stereoscope style)out of photolight gels. One weird thing is my mouse was over the part that sticks out the furthest, it was really odd because the pointer is further away than that part. This comment was edited at 2006-12-27 17:01:15

Well not specs really, I just held them.

Hey, you should make some giant glasses frames for those gels. I'm currently attaching the PSP to the base with velcro straps, as it seems the simplest temporary solution. Sometime I should get around to building a more permanent base. Stereoscopy is a hobby of mine, and in addition to the PSPscope, I've also hacked together a stereoscopic DV camera rig, portable passive-3D LCD monitor, modded an industrial head-mounted display for watching 3D movies, and assembled a PC-based playback system for both passive and active stereo viewing. Sometime I'll have to post pictures of everything. In the meantime, here's a side-by-side (stereoscope format) of the PSPscope.

Jesse this thing is awesome.. but really the reason I'm typing in this little box it to tell you that picture of you in the pool is FREAKENNN awesome.. I don't know why but I love it, and I want to have a pool now. hehPosted by natetrue 1 year ago ( 29-Dec-2006 09:56:59 )
Jesse,
We should make up a rig with mirrors that turns our HD video camera into a stereoscopic camera - as long as two parts of the video are stereoscopable I can make a script that can extract each half no matter where they are on the frame. To post a comment, go to the original post at cre.ations.net.Posted by jesse 1 year ago ( 30-Dec-2006 00:49:37 )
AWESOME thread. I love the HUD mod and I would LOVE to see the other stuff ejkdreamer has created! OH an thanks for the stereograph of the PSP viewer. Sirsmelly...thankyou you should get a pool, just for photographs. NATE that HD idea is truly sweetness in the disguise of sweetness. I have first surface mirrors but am wonderign if we should look into prisms instead.Copyright © 2007 Brenda and Jesse Ferguson. All rights reserved.
