I can't stand it in movies when a person witnesses something "out of this world" and doesn't react enough. Like in the new "War of the Worlds" with Tom Cruise. When those giant robots shot out of the ground and started vaporizing people, yeah Tom was pretty scared...but if someone really saw that, they would be SCREAMING, or fainting, or puking...or all three. In real life, if your computer keyboard started floating you would freak out! Your whole reality would be shattered just by that.
Now, I loved the movie "Nativity Story", but every time anyone saw an angel, they were completely calm and composed...maybe a little startled at best. Mary didn't even flinch. So when my husband and I were asked to make a video for church, we took all of that into consideration.
This is an introductory video to a sermon series about the book of Revelation. Jesse shot the footage, I edited it, and we worked together on sound and digital effects. The actor is our friend, Will. I am very pleased with how it turned out.
(I would also like to point out that John actually knew Jesus and had seen quite a few miracles in his day, so he wouldn't necessarily be vomiting with fear upon suddenly seeing God...but we did want him to be more scared and in awe than most "movie" experiences we've seen.)
