Sand sculpture

On a summer trip to the ocean Will and Tina our frienda and Brenda and I all made a scene of things you may see underwater, out of sand.
First we marked out circles into which we owuld throw shoveled sand, the smaller circles are to shovel IN to, everywhere else was to be shoveled from. This was the entire plan at this point, just to get some elevation differences going so it would stand out from the FLAT FLAT beach.
Then we just started carving whatever came to mind...
and shaping...
And workin it...
and digging some more...
Tina and Brenda finished a mound of sand into a hammerhead shark and a giant clam and a huge starfish, then moved on to new areas.
Will made a treasure chest popped open with "pirates booty" inside.
We all worked on a giant octapus attacking a submarine, I made the submarine. and the clam you see in the foreground.
Tina carved up a cute hermit crab with a sweet shell.
Last I added the globe partly submerged in sand and we raked all the flat or unsculpted areas to give it a texture so there wasn't just a bunch of smeary footprints all over, it makes it look better (use a garden rake)
and we were all in the mood for a photo, so here that is.
That night we came back and watched the tide devour our hours of work. But that is the nature of the temporary art of sand castle building.

Now you know how to make a great sandsculpture, remember, never throw glass in the sand.
I didnt step on glass but I did try to walk outside our cabin with bare feet and discovered that razor burr nettles grow there.
It hurt SO FREAKING BAD.
Will had to yank them out really fast because...
they were buried so deep in my foot flesh.
